A lot of things happening so a quick post to help inform everyone and plan stuff in the diary.

Seminars
We have 2 exciting opportunities for seminars on 11 March

1) Beginners sparring at Spirit Taekwondo (Brookvale)
9:30am - 12:30pm
Saturday 11 March

David will be joining the students attending this 3 hour session
The aim is to help students with no or limited sparring experience learn some basics and train with different players.

Entry to this seminar is $30 and can be done via this link

2) Blue belt and above Poomsae, Demonstration/Tricking, Sparring seminar with special guests from Hong Kong
Schedule:
2.30-4pm Poomsae
4-5.30 Demo/tricking
5.30-5.45 Q&A and snacks
5.45-7.15pm Kyorugi

Cost: $50 (book in the Chung Do app, I'm still working out payment, maybe bring cash)
Master Rin was on the Hong Kong National Poomsae team from 2016-2018
Master Yoyo is a very accomplished kyorugi player having competed extensively for over 10 years including winning last month's Hong Kong Black Belt Championships.
Wayne has been tricking for 4 years and is a member of the TXD Taekwondo demonstration team

Competitions
Our event page will be updated as we know exact dates.

5th March KTA Australia Comp level: less experienced players

• we have 40+ competitors going to this comp our biggest team to date!
  

15-16 April South Coast Championships. Level: Intermediate/experienced players

• we need to start organising this as it's 3 hour drive away so logistics is important!
  

May - University Open. Level: usually for 16+ year olds, poomsae/sparring all levels

July 5-7 Oceania Opens + President's cup. Level: Black belts, National/International level poomsae/sparring
July 15 - State Championships. Level: Intermediate/advanced

• Qualification comp for Nationals
  

August or October GM Suh Chun Suk Memorial Competition . Level: All levels
September 25-29: University Games. University students only
October (tbc): Australian Taekwondo National Championships (Gold Coast).

• Qualify in July States to go here
  

Grading

Grading will be March 25-27

We will do grading qualification assessment after 11 March.

Hello!

Pretty much everyone is back now, so please make sure you use the app or mobile site to book into classes.
We have slowed down how many new students we take in as we're not sure if there's space.

Uniforms
For new students waiting for uniforms, apologies for the delay.
The start of the year is always very hectic for the embroiders, we are ordering over 100 uniforms and it is taking some time on the supplier's end.

Demo Team Tryouts
We've told some belt levels and also some people have seen it in the calendar.
We will have demo team tryouts Saturday 11 Feb

We will split the existing demo team into 2 teams (Team A and Team B) and are looking to add new students (especially high school and older students).

You need to know:

• Taeguk 3 or higher
• Front, turning, side, back, reverse turning
• Bonus if you know taeguk 4 and above and tornado kick
• Also bonus if you have a gymnastics or dance background

Expectations:

• Train in normal classes at least twice a week PLUS attend demo team training on Saturday afternoons
• Participate in demos when we get asked (we get asked about 3 times a year)
• Work hard

a) KTA Australia Competition (5th March @ Hurstville)
b) South Coast Open (15/16 April @ Bombaderry 3 hours south of Sydney)

AT player memberships are up for renewal
Ever calendar year -_-

From 2024 Basic Membership is mandatory for all members but for 2023 it is strongly encouraged.
The National Athlete Licence is mandatory for people participating in State/National training and competitions.

Two types of memberships (see the full details of what they cover here)
a) Basic member

• All individual members join at this level of membership
• Basic membership is for club training and club events only
• Members can upgrade their membership to access state and national events
• Includes Personal Accident Insurance coverage (covers what Medicare+Private Health insurance doesn't - if anything)
  
• This membership is also applicable to referees from affiliated clubs
  

b) Basic member + National Athlete Licence

• Basic + insurance for AT sanctioned training and competitions
• Must have to participate in State Training, State and National Competitions
