Easter Break

We still have the regular timetable happening during the holidays
Excluding Easter/Anzac Day Long Weekend (22-25 April)

Charges will continue as normal but if you are not attending for 2 weeks or more during the holidays and need to suspend payments please let us know.

If you're only missing one week, please try to come to more classes on the week you're here.

December (and before) 2021 Certificates

Picture
I had the December grading certificates finally ready at the start of March (it's getting faster...)

But we still have a pile because we keep forgetting to present the certificates!

If you haven't received your certificates from December (or earlier) grading, please ask David or Master ZiChuan.

March Grading certificates will be sent for printing after the last grading session (this Sunday). Should be faster because we've got the process sorted on our end and our print company is getting more used to loading in the Korean text into their system.

June 11 Competition reminder

It's coming up soon!

Info pack is almost ready and hopefully will be sent out next week.

Quick facts about Elena:
  • Represented Australia at World Universiade and Oceania Championships
  • Selected for the 2020 World Poomsae Championship Team (cancelled due to Covid)
  • Coach at University of NSW and King Tiger
  • Medicine student at UNSW

Session 2: Sunday 15 May
Session 3: Sunday 19 June

Who should attend:
  • Blue Belt and above (high potential lower belts can request)
  • We will be focusing on Taeguk 4 and 7 (you should know at least one of these, preferably both)
  • Elena will share some of her experience preparing/training for poomsae and balancing studies, training and work

Cost:
Free for black belts (because it's taking over Sunday Black Belt class times)
Colour belts: $20 for 1 session, $50 for all 3.

Tickets at:
https://www.revolutionise.com.au/austtkdchungdokwanas/eventsregister/135426/
Grading

Grading will be from Sunday April 3rd (black belts) to 9th April. Please note there will be class disruptions during this week.

Qualification
Teens/adults - make sure you've attended the required number of classes, you self assess if you're ready to grade ask us if you are unsure.
Kids - We will hold grading qualification sessions in class during the week of 21 March

Class and competition attendance requirement
Each belt has a set number of classes required, this is because we assume very few people practice at home.

We have also extended the time requirement for higher belts. Techniques need time to mature like cheese or wine.
  • White belt - once you know right hand, left hand and chonji patterns plus front, turning and side kick
  • Yellow to green tip, green tip to green belt - 20 classes, 3 months
  • Green belt to blue tip , Blue tip to Blue belt - 30 classes, 3 months
  • Blue belt to red tip up to black belt - 40 classes, 6 months
Remember: Students progressing to blue belt and above must have competition experience. The reason for this isn't to win medals but to ensure we are constantly testing ourselves against an external benchmark.

Holiday Program
Normal classes continue during the holidays except Easter long weekend.

We will also have a holiday program on the Tuesday and Wednesday during the school holidays (April 12,13,19,20)
We are going to do it a bit differently this time. The focus will be on:
  1. Helping students who don't pass grading
  2. Helping students who want to either catch up or get a head start on their belt level
  3. We have a number of students from other schools who have maybe learnt different things, this is a chance to learn the same things that our students have learnt
April 12, 13 - Yellow to Blue Tip
April 19, 20 -  Blue belt and above
Time: 9.30-3pm
Pricing and booking links to follow soon

South Coast Open 2022 Results

10/3/2022

Comments

On 6 March 2022 we made the trip down to the Shoalhaven to participate in the South Coast Championships.

It was a great event and we came away with some very impressive results including "Most Outstanding Competitor Junior Female" (Jennifer) and "Overall Club Point Score Winner: Poomsae"

The journey home took an extra hour thanks to the heavy rain which caused a small landslide, thick fog and temporarily broken down bus but we made it back safe and sound!

A big thanks to the parents for their support and food and congratulations to the team!
