Congratulations to all the competitors from Chungdo TKD and Sydney University Taekwondo Club who entered competitions in the last 2 months. We've attended the South Coast Open (8th overall), NSW Open (5th in Sparring and estimated 2nd overall) and University Opens. Most importantly it's great to see our students participating in competition and improving under the pressure of competition environments. Rhodes Launch
We're pleased to have launched our new location at The Connection in Rhodes right along the water's edge. We'll have classes there Monday and Saturday, check out the Rhodes page for more info Korea Trips We are excited to attend the 80th Anniversary of Chungdokwan Korea in July, a number of students will go to Korea for training and the anniversary dinner. Other students will go to Chosun for a training camp during the same time. Welcome back to 2024! Firstly we have a new location! Lovett Street Hall (272 Condamine Street Manly Vale) Tuesday nights 6-7pm Family class and 7-8pm Teens/adults We were lucky enough to have Ms Kim Yeun pop in to do some work experience in the week between Christmas and New Year Then we had a couple of extra Adult/Teens+Adult classes in the first week of January while the office workers were still on holidays.
There's a pretty full calendar this year. Starting off with Lunar New Year celebrations on 3rd February at Chatswood. We'll be doing a demonstration at 12noon-12.30pm and will take part in the parade during the evening. We have a list of potential competitions on our events page, some events are still to be confirmed (TBC), we will update these details as they become available. Congratulations to our team of 17 players (plus 2 players from our Sydney Uni team) who traveled to Perth for the Australian Taekwondo National Championships. Thanks to their efforts Chung Do Taekwondo finished in 6th place out of 94 dojangs from all across Australia. We were also the highest ranking club from NSW. A huge thank you to David and Yutong and the coaching team plus the students and their parents for their support. New Instructors We are looking to add another location in the Northern Beaches as well as one around Rhodes in 2024. In preparation for this a couple of new instructors have recently joined us to learn our style of classes. End of Year We're looking at a final grading during the weekend of 10th December - some people have indicated they will be away, we will try to accommodate early gradings. We will send out grading invites in about 3 weeks. Our last class for the year will be Sunday 17th December. Classes (and memberships) will be on pause from Monday 18 December until January (date TBC - either the 2nd or 8th) Once we figure out the dates we will let you know and there'll be an online form for people who are going away and need a longer suspension. Korean Education Centre Demonstration The Korean Education Centre held a competition in Strathfield for participants of their programs during mid August. As part of the opening ceremony we were asked to do a demonstration but they wanted mostly uni students or adults. So we put together a team with our Sydney University students and borrowed Emma to be in the demo too :D The feedback was really positive and we're happy that we were able to put on a good demo! A big couple of months for Chung Do Taekwondo! Competition results
