September events!

Spring is here and we have a number of events to kick off September!

NSW State Sparring Training 9 September (Homebush)

Last NDP training session (sparring) before Nationals will be on the 9th of September at the ACPE homebush 
Sessions are as follows 

• 12:30pm to 2pm 10 to 13yrs red and black belts. 
• 2pm to 4pm14yrs and over red and black belts. 
  
• BYO sparring gear (incl chest guard and helmet) and targets - can borrow from us, let us know

Grading 16-18 September (18/19 September for NSG)

• The last grading was late so it feels really soon but grading is coming up in 2 weeks.
  
• We will send invites during the week.
  
• For those who need competition experience, there's an online poomsae competition (Details below) that will count.
  

Beacon Hill Public School Demonstration and stall (16 September)
Beacon Hill Public School has their Spring Fair on 16th September
Our demonstration team will be performing somewhere between 3pm and 3.30pm!
We'll have an info stand there to promote the club too

Australian University Games (ND1s) 23 and 24 September
The Australian University Games is like the Olympics for Australian Uni students (The World University Games were held in July in Chengdu China).

• We will have a team of 20+ students from University of Sydney competing at the Gold Coast (23 and 24th September)
  
• Yutong and Master Zi will be going with the team to coach.
  

School holiday program
Details will come out maybe tomorrow but basically
Week 1

• Art + Taekwondo (Thursday)
  
• Online poomsae competition recording (colour belts)
  
• Excursion day to ice skating at Macquarie Park (Friday)
  

Week 2 -

• Training camp for Nationals Players (students not going to Nationals blue belt and above can come) 3 half days
  
• Online competition recording (black belts)
  
• Art + Taekwondo (Thursday)
  
• Excursion day Friday (we're thinking one of the trampoline places)
  

Online competition (Entries close 24 September, recording submission deadline 3rd October)

• A throw back to Covid times but a great opportunity to compete against international players
  
• The process of recording and reviewing your poomsae is extremely beneficial (also generally good referees)
  
• Highly recommended for Nationals Poomsae players
  
• Also if you need to do a competition to qualify for grading, this will count as a comp

August Recap!

Surprise guest instructor Master Lee Nayeon 28th August
Earlier this week we had the fortunate opportunity to have Master Lee Nayeon (2x World Champion, Korean National Demonstration Team member and ex-Thailand National Poomsae Team Coach) visit our Teens and Adults class just before she left Australia.

Hopefully everyone learnt a lot from Master Lee, David, Yutong and Master Zi did!
A huge thank you to Master Lee for taking time out at the last minute to come and visit us.

Korean Education Centre Demonstration
The Korean Education Centre held a competition in Strathfield for participants of their programs during mid August.

As part of the opening ceremony we were asked to do a demonstration but they wanted mostly uni students or adults.
So we put together a team with our Sydney University students and borrowed Emma to be in the demo too :D

The feedback was really positive and we're happy that we were able to put on a good demo!
